Gothic Decadence.

Oops!

Thursday, 1 April 2010

Sorry for not posting here much (if anyone actually reads this!) I have to be careful what I put in this blog compared to my private one as you never know who may come across it, and whilst I love (almost) everyone in my life, I do like to have a bitch about things and it wouldn't be good for them to find it! So I sort of forget about this one.

Anyhoo, what has been going on with me lately?

Well, I did Oklahoma! at the Solihull Arts Complex with the Peterbrook Players March 24th-27th. I had to miss opening night due to a lovely tummy bug my mom brought home from the hospital where she works.
But the five shows I did do (there was a matinĂ©e on the Saturday as well as an evening performance) were amazing. I really cannot imagine doing anything other than being on stage in the future. I was made to be on it! I think I could easily do eight shows a week. Somebody; please hire me! I am excellent at ad-libbing! ;)

But that's it until September now! *Sob* Our next show is Oliver! and I have my eyes set on a main part. Thankfully, due to my year and a half of having a Norf Laaandaner for a best friend (during my time at the University of Kent), I have a rather respectable Cockney accent that should stand me in good stead!

I only did 2 and a half hours of lunch cover at work today so when my mom picked me up we went to La Tasca for lunch. They do the best sangria. They also have a lovely atmosphere, appropriate music and good food. It is a bit pricy but well worth it.

On Friday we may go to the Sea Life Centre (if it's open - bloody religion! Although I like the days off so I take it back!) since we have 2 for 1 tickets and I haven't been there since I was in year 7, and I don't think you appreciate things like that so much at the age of 12. Ten years on and I hope I have matured!

On (Easter) Sunday, I believe we are having a bit of a get together with next door. It will involve food and lots of alcohol, and hopefully a dairy free Easter cake that I am going to persuade my mom to make!

Yesterday I bought an iPhone! Bit of an impulse decision, but I have wanted one for aaaages. Now I have it I don't know how I coped without it! I have been having great fun with childish apps like a virtual dog, and I downloaded a few card and word games too, and the compulsory Facebook and Twitterrific apps.
I bought it through Orange on pay as you go (I LOATHE contracts). It's a white 16GB 3GS so it cost me £450 (including £10 top up), but I had £15 in a phone fund so it cost me £435 in total! Scary price but it is fucking amazing, and I get free internet with Orange on it for a year now which is ace.

Well I think that is about it, ciao for now!!

I Love Courtney.

Thursday, 21 January 2010

A lot of people think Courtney Love is seven shades of crazy. Now, whilst I do not dispute that claim, I love her. In a weird fucked up way. Because she's crazy in a 'fuck off I'll be who I want to be and nothing else!' kind of way. Which I respect. It reminds me of me.

A lot of people who don't know me well think I'm this kind of mild, nice, friendly person. Whilst I am friendly, I am definitely not mild. I'm not even that nice. I have always fought to be who I want to be. I take no prisoners. Of course, I tone myself down for work because I like the place and the money! But I respect people who, in majority of their time, march to the beat of their own drum, and honest to God do not care what people think of them.

I've had a few people say that they wished they were more like me; not giving a shit about what others think. The fact is: I do care what others think. It's all a carefully orchestrated act.
However, I only care what the important people think. My friends. My parents will love me no matter what, so they don't enter into the equation. That's why I find it very difficult to make friends with girls. They usually care so much about what others think of them that they will scrutinise you too. That's why all of my friends are not 'girly girls'; they're down to earth, real; wear, do and say what they like.

This is a completely pointless entry. I only wanted to write about rediscovering my playlist of Hole on iTunes. Because they fucking rock and they have a new album out soon eeee!

My favourite song.

Wednesday, 20 January 2010

I officially have a new song that has trumped Static-X's Cold for Nicola's favourite song. The winner is:

Carry On Wayward Son by Kansas. (Notice there is no 'My' in the title. Common misconception.)

This is totally nothing to do with Supernatural, of which I have just started the fourth season. That or my obsession with Jensen Ackles.

...

Ok, maybe it is a little bit. But can you blame me? Feast your eyes on the perfection:

And this one:

Oh my goodness, English men do not look like that.

...

But I have always loved classic rock. Another favourite of mine is Blue Oyster Cult's Don't Fear The Reaper.

This is why I like Nickelback *hangs head*. I know, I know. For the record, I only like their fast stuff. But it's quite similar to a lot of 70s rock. Can imagine them playing in some grungy American biker bar.

I should visit America. I reckon American guys are better than British men. Tougher. I seem to attract whiny men.

PROVE ME WRONG ENGLAND, PROVE ME WRONG.

New name, new layout.

Wednesday, 13 January 2010

Well after searching (what feels like) a thousand sites, I have finally found a layout that I like.

I also changed the name to Gothic Decadence. I tried Acidic Fantasies earlier but it wasn't right. I think this one is.

I was only in work for an hour today; the school where I pick a kid up from for after-school club was closed, so I stayed to help out with the babies. But it had been snowing all day so I got to go home early which was good as I live in the country and our road was pretty treacherous!

That is all.

Knowledge vs Time.

Monday, 11 January 2010

I might start doing a random 'thought of the day', based off of things I find online. This probably won't work, as I have many millions of thoughts all fighting for attention, and then my 'thought of the day' post turns into a ranty post instead.

Anyway.

This just popped up in my RSS feed (click it for a bigger picture). I love that site. And I just thought it was very true. How much crap have you learnt over your life, that you have forgotten the second you walk out of that exam hall?

I studied Law at A Level. Since my A2 year was mostly spent skipping classes and drinking mochas in Starbucks (yeah, we were the students that sat in coffee shops. Now they all sit in pubs. Philistines!), I devoted all my revision time to Law (and my Psychology and Drama grades suffered as a result).
I ended up getting an A in Law. And after that I thought I'd never need my legal knowledge again. So I forgot it all! I burnt all my notes (ahh, happy days), and sold my textbooks on eBay.

Then one day, after I had dropped out of the University of Kent, I decided to study Law with the Open University. Obviously because I am a glutton for punishment. And you know what? I really had forgotten almost everything.

This, ladies and gentlemen, is why exams are a load of crap (although since I am better at exams than coursework, I don't really know why I'm saying this!). Any normal student will cram before their exam, and forget everything immediately after they walk out of that exam hall and into the nearest pub (after an exam is no time for coffee).

So ends my nonsensical thought of the day.

Um...

Sunday, 10 January 2010

Hmm, what happened to my picture in my previous post? Who knows. I am frankly far too lazy to try and do anything about it.

Sorry for the lack of updates, but I have been... well, not busy. I have been enraptured with stupid little things that take up a lot of my time. Like reading political blogs and telling everyone on Facebook why they shouldn't vote Conservative. It entertains me!

I started watching Supernatural last night. It's good. I like it. So I am off to watch the next one, and then have veggie burgers for my dinner, which are my new addiction. Ciao!
