Tuesday 22 December 2009
This is an (almost) direct post over from my other blog, so if you've read it before; sorry!
We got Rage Against the Machine to Christmas number 1!! It was a protest against the X Factor always claiming the Christmas number 1, so this year the public took the charts back. It was nice to be part of something so huge, and the campaign has raised in excess of £65,000 for the homeless charity Shelter. Now that's not bad going!

My cold has gone, but I have such a motherfucking sore throat. It's driving me barmy. But my glands are hardly swollen and my mom tells me she has seen my throat look worse, so I guess I'm just gonna ride it out.

On Friday, I went to a National trust property with my mom; Baddesley Clinton. It's only 10 minutes away from where I live, so after that we went into Stratford for a pub lunch ;D Of course, I took a few photos:
Here is a picture of my Christmas tree. Not a very good pic unfortunately; it looks a lot better in real life! I also took this picture with my old camera which was probably a mistake!
And the rest are photos of me from last night!

The Independent Shares my Views.
Saturday 12 December 2009
I usually steer well clear of The Independent as their commenters tend to be about as militant - and as nasty - as The Daily Fail readers. However, this article is just too brilliant to not post. Help Save Christmas from the Dreaded X Factor.

Rah rah ah ah ah...
Friday 11 December 2009
I have no idea if anyone reads this but gosh dammit I am bored.
I am now onto my second cold in about three weeks. My nose is perpetually red. It is not attractive. I had yesterday and Tuesday off work but I went in today because I am awesome (actually my mom bullied me into it but that's beside the point!). Anyway it is FRIDAY tomorrow! I have work 3-6 and then a drama rehearsal from 7.30-10. And then I am freeeeeee until Monday at 3pm. I must absolutely get better over the weekend as I am planning to go to Gatecrasher in Birmingham with my friend, Lydia on Monday. Mondays are student night at Gatecrasher and since Lydia is at Aston uni she can get tickets.
So I would quite like to go out and get out of the house, get a little drunk and pull a randomer. That, and I bought a phitt dress the other day and I neeeed to wear it! I actually bought it for my work's Christmas party (as the dress code is 'cocktail dresses') but it is too amazing to not wear all the time. It is strapless and black, with a big thick band of green going from the top to the bottom in the middle of it. It's pretty figure hugging and I thank whoever for giving me boobs and hips that are in proportion with each other because this dress completely accentuates them!
I am so happy it's the final of the Shite Factor on Saturday. Then that is it for another year! I cannot stand the effing show. Unfortunately, I live in a wooden house that is constantly cold. We have a log burner in the living room, so I stay downstairs on my laptop as my bedroom is freezing. To my complete annoyance, my mother loves the show so I have to endure it every Saturday I am home (which is way too much recently, due to colds and friends being away at uni).
I hate the show because it lacks originality; any decent artists get knocked out early due to the masses not appreciating anything outside of the cookie cutter model Cowell has fed to them (Jamie is a perfect case in point). I also despise Minogue (she is only famous because of her sister) and Cole; let's not forget that she is a racist Northern chav.
I really do think that the show is coming to its natural end. Reality shows are becoming rather passé. That is however all ITV consists of. Gosh, what I wouldn't give to see that channel go under. I have had my brain rotted away by GMTV for too many years now (my mom is in love with ITV for some sad reason and GMTV was all I heard every morning from the ages of 4 until I left college at 18). The only decent channels are BBC 2 and Channel 4/E4, for Top Gear, QI, The Inbetweeners, University Challenge, Horizon and Channel 4's 21st century freak show that is Bodyshock.
If you read all of that nonsensical rambling, kudos to you. I think the Sudafed is turning my thoughts into mush.

Spam.
Friday 4 December 2009
So, I'm bored and going to spam anyone who bothers to read this with inane bullshit.
I downloaded Lady Gaga's The Fame Monster. I disgust myself that I enjoy her music. Gah. She's only a year older than me which bizarrely depresses me. I'm getting old!
I can't decide if I want a tattoo. The questions to be resolved are: what and where?
I only like black tattoos, and I would want it somewhere easy to cover up. However the wrist and nape of the neck really appeal to me. And I favour gothic designs but such patterns are associated with emos which is never good. Maybe I should wait a few years so nobody can accuse me of being a depressive cunt?
I have always been a piercing girl, but I have my lobes done twice, the top of my left ear, my right tragus (and I also had my right rim done but I took it out), my nose and I also had my tongue done (but took it out after a year when an ulcer underneath it wouldn't heal). I always want a new piercing but what? I'd actually quite like an industrial done but it looks painful to sleep on and if I had it done on my left ear, it would look silly as I already have my helix done, and my right ear has a big ass scar where the rim was pierced, in pretty much the exact place where the industrial would go through. Hmm.
Um... work was good today. I work at a nursery for those that don't know. Only been there since October but it's pretty good. The kids are cute and mostly well behaved, which helps!
Someone I know pissed me off earlier by supporting this Daily Fail article. He dared to suggest that I may now be feeling guilty for vilifying Jan Moir and 'jumping on the left bandwagon'! I did write several strongly worded replies to him but I deleted each because I can't be fucked to argue, and then deleted his reply too.
I found it amusing that he accused me of jumping on the liberal bandwagon, when papers like the Mail and the Express regularly urge their readers to jump on their immigrant, civil partnerships, Muslim, Labour hating bandwagon.
I just console myself with the fact that everyone knows Mail readers are pretty retarded and seem to be a dying breed (one can only hope!)
It just saddens me that the readers of the tabloids can vote. I do not want Cameron, but it's pretty obvious we're going to get him =(

On losing my voice.
Sunday 29 November 2009
Well, I went to a very bizarre house party last night. It was my friend's housemate's 21st, so there was the obligatory alcohol, shiny decorations and me coveting lots of other girls' shoes. There was also a penis shaped cake, a bloke who decided to show us his nine inch (apparently) cock (that I shamefully pulled. The owner of the penis; not the penis itself, thankfully), and people blowing up condoms. You really would have thought that what with being 22, I would attend parties full of insightful conversation, intellectual debates and committed couples. I am starting to think that day will never come. Pictures may follow shortly.
In other news, I have a pretty bad cold and am now losing my voice. I have always found losing my voice kind of exciting. Being loud and bossy isn't exciting all the time, you know!
I am going to see Jason Manford (northern comedian; panelist on 8 Out of 10 Cats) with my mom tomorrow night at The Alexandra Theatre in Birmingham. Weirdly, that theatre used to be owned by one of my relatives some time in the last century. Pretty cool!

Welcome!
Friday 27 November 2009
Ok, so finally, a proper post!
Since I am now on Google Wave (which makes me awesome, I know), I get quite excited by having all of my accounts connected and thought I may as well start up a blog that I can link to in my Google profile. I do have a blog on a much smaller site, but it's kind of where I rant and let off steam about my 'real' life, so no I am not linking to it here!
So, here's a little (or probably a lot; I will get carried away) about me:
- My name is Nicola Jayne.
- I am 22.
- I work as an after school/holiday club playworker in a nursery, but I also help out with the nursery children as well. I especially like helping out with the babies.
- I am studying for an Open Degree with the Open University. I recently finished a Law course and am now tentatively waiting for the news that I have to retake.
- My next course (providing they pay my fees for me!) is 'Art and its Histories'.
- I studied Drama for a year and a half at the University of Kent from September 2006 until the end of the first term in second year in December 2007. I dropped out because the course was crap.
- I live in a small village just on the Warwickshire/West Midlands border. But I am technically in Warwickshire, which makes me posh(ish).
- I recently discovered I am lactose intolerant, which I whine about a lot.
- I am a member of a local musical group, and we will be performing Oklahoma! next March.
- I love industrial music.
- I am a supporter of the Liberal Democrats.
- I like to whine about The Daily Mail, The Daily Express and The Sun, because they are newspapers for idiots.
- I prefer The Times and The Guardian.
- My fave show is Nip/Tuck. mainly for Julian McMahon. Ok, only for Julian McMahon. Yum yum. I also enjoy The Inbetweeners, 8 out of 10 Cats, Have I Got News for You, Mock The Week, Would I Lie To You, Top Gear, and most other stuff you can find on Dave and Channel 4.
- I am a huge geek and spend a lot of my time online learning stuff.
- I like to become a 'fan' of things on Facebook. Things such as Twinings, Sandwiches, The Anti X Factor Campaign and Dorling Kindersley Books.
- I pretty much despise celebrity culture. Most celebrities are vacuous twats and I don't need to see their makeup plastered faces every time I go shopping.
- I like to moan a lot ;)
